<< how to surprise my husband >>
2008-03-11, 10:38 a.m.
Yes there is a god! Baby finally slept last night in blocks of approximately three hours each. I feel like a NEW woman. If I had known that taking away the damn pacifier would solve my problems almost immediately, I would have done it a long time ago.
Mind you putting him to sleep now isn't easy. I can't just lay him in the crib and expect him to fall asleep on his own. Not when he's relied on having something to suck on in order to fall off to sleep for the last three months.
The little bugger puts up a good fight until I pretty much can't stand the sound of him crying anymore and I relent by putting him in the CARRIER where he falls asleep within minutes. So this morning, instead of letting him cry in the crib for an hour I just plopped in right in the carrier and away he went.
AMEN.
I really hope to have a repeat of last night again this evening. Is that too much to ask? I haven't felt this energetic since my pre-pregnancy days.

I received an email from a woman named Pam this morning from HIDDEN STREAMS PRODUCTIONS letting me know that she had a solution for my baby's sleep problems. I was confused when she suggested baby oil. The first thing that came to mind was that yes I do massage my baby almost nightly with oil after his bath and it hasn't helped. Then I followed her link and it turns out the BABY OIL she was refering to is an instrumental music compilation. Check it out, it's really quite beautiful.

So it's Tuesday, and I have decided to dedicate Tuesday's to acknowledging other mommy bloggers that I enjoy reading.
I came across SANDIEGO MOMMA via BLOGHER a great site for mommy bloggers to network and share. She is witty, she's gosh darn pretty (hate her), and she makes me laugh out loud sometimes.
Check her out!

So my husband's name day is coming up and I'm trying to decide what to get him. He's Greek and name days are bigger than birthdays for Greeks. (As a side note, did you know that if a Greek invites you out on their birthday or their name day THEY are expected to pay??
I will likely buy him a watch. If I get him anything else he'd be disappointed. He has a watch box and there are a couple of empty slots which he often reminds me need to be filled! The only thing about buying him a watch is that I can never manage to surprise him.
I can think of only a couple of ways to really surprise him, either a Rolex or a Patek Perpetual. According to this ONLINE ARTICLE from Fortune Magazine, "A plain wind-it-yourself Patek, with gold trim and a leather strap, begins at $7,000. They are marketed as investments, which they are. A 1989 limited edition that cost $9,150 sold at auction last year for $26,000."
Uh, sorry honey but it looks like it's going to be another Seiko this year!!!

I'm at a loss as to how to really get my ONLINE BUSINESS off the ground. I invested in a link exchange program that is supposed to be really effective but it has brought me little to no traffic so I may pull out.
If there are any other mommies out there trying to promote their online stores or products please let me know. Perhaps we can do a link exchange. I wonder if there are any sites out there like this. If not maybe I'll start one dedicated to stay at home mom's trying to make a buck.

Thank you to my readers who take the time to vote for my posts and my blog via the MOM BLOG NETWORK. This is a great way for me to increase readership. I probably won't create a link to this entry because I don't think it's vote worthy. But sometimes when I feel particularly good about something I've written you will see the "Vote For This Post" icon.
It is very hard to increase traffic to a mommy blog. When I was single and galavanting all over NYC, jumping into Ferrari's with strangers, having affairs with my bosses, and hanging out with celebrities, I had a large readership. I guess mom's aren't nearly as exciting.
I'm afraid I don't have anything shocking or titilating to write about now that I'm a wife and mom. The most exciting news I have right now is that baby is sleeping. WOW, right?
The blogs that attract readers and make money are blogs filled with neat graphics, information about great buys, contests, advice on how to do things from increasing site traffic to ways to make money blogging or working from home. Technology and entertainment driven sites are also a big deal in the blog universe.
I don't necessarily want to be a big deal, but it would be nice to be able to make some revenue and site traffic is essential. I'm still striving to find ways to be a "work from home" mommy while staying at home. I like the feeling of still being able to contribute in some way to our household income.
I really miss my job. Or maybe it's that one hour lunch break I miss, not so much the job itself!
