is it really thursday already?

WOW, it's Thursday already, and the first day of May! I really cannot believe how the days fly by when you're a stay at home mom with an infant.
The baby is on a schedule at last and is sleeping for longer stretches! He is a lot more alert and less fussy during the day and as a result I feel less stressed and am enjoying motherhood so much more.
Really, he's a joy to be around. I just love watching him explore. He wants to get into everything now. He's not sitting up on his own just yet, but he's just about ready. His two bottom teeth are also getting ready to make their debut. It's so much more interesting once you get to this six month marker.
I started making baby food and I'm happy to report my son seems to really dig it. As of now I've only made apple and sweet potato sauces, but today I'll make pears.
Using all organic produce, of course, which gives me peace of mind knowing my son will not be ingesting large quantities of pesticides. However, I am extremely concerned over my recent discovery that Earth's Best Organic Infant Formula is packaged in a container that has been found to be lined with metal containing BPA.
I spent all morning writing an article on this for my OTHER SITE. Please check it out. BPA has been found in all infant formulas, particularly the liquid based formulas.
If you are outraged as I am about all of this and you want to take action, then click HERE to write to your formula manufacture and demand that they stop this at once.
Also, did you know that pacifiers also contain BPA? Not the silicone nob that goes in your babies mouth, but the plastic part of the pacifier. I had no idea.

I purchased a plastic feeding bowl for my son and stopped using it when it dawned on me that it is quite likely that this too was manufactured with levels of BPA. Have started putting his food in glass dishes. I am now on a mission to find BPA free feeding bowls and utensils for my son.
I wonder, is BPA really necessary, or is this not unlike the mercury and aluminum drug manufacturers are putting in children's vaccines because they're the cheapest preservatives they could find. I also wonder, and I do mention this is the article, if BPA may also be contributing to the increase in autism.
Throughout my pregnancy, unaware of the BPA controversy I consumed large quantities of bottled water thinking that I was doing something good for my baby by avoiding tap water. Now it turns out I was likely exposing him to more chemicals than necessary.
I just don't know who to trust anymore. Certainly not the FDA. My husband thinks I'm crazy every time I mention another one of my discoveries about the chemicals found in products we use. Yesterday I mentioned that i wanted to encourage the baby to sleep in his crib as much as possible because I purchased an organic mattress for him so he wouldn't have to be exposed to the CHEMICALS FOUND IN REGULAR MATTRESSES. My husband just shook his head and smiled. I knew what he was thinking, "Here she goes again."

I am getting impatient for the arrival of my Baby Jogger. I really cannot wait. Who would have guessed that such a thing could bring me so much joy.
I am making a commitment to myself not to spend a cent on anything other than food for a week. I really need to prove to myself that I can do it. I hate that I'm always finding something that I'm convinced we need.
My most recent purchase was a box of Sylvania Compact Flourescent Bulbs (did you know that these bulbs use 75% less energy and last 10 times longer than regular bulbs), a great how to go green book called Gorgeously Green by Sophie Uliano, and a MOBI rechargeable light so that I can see my son better during the night. This nightlight is fantastic. Your can charge it during the day and it doesn't require the use of any electricity for a good ten hours.

Baby has been asleep now for two hours. Really unbelievable especially for napping. I really should go and check on him. Have a great day!
