I am a 39 year old, stay at home mother of a beautiful baby boy. I got married late in life when I was 35, and had my son at 38. Although I never planned on marriage or children, I have to say that both my husband and son are the best thing that could have happened to me (regardless of how much I bitch and moan). My passion is for travel and cooking. I also love to write and have been blogging on d-land since 2003. (Click HERE to read more.)

The Real Scoop

not my real name
2008-05-07, 10:30 p.m.

I really do feel fantastic since I dropped the coffee. I'm also trying to eat a good number of fruits and veggies. Whenever the baby and I go to the health food store (once or twice a week) I always grab a fresh juice. I love the green combos (i.e. kale, spinach, parsley, celery, with lemon juice).

I was thinking of trying a liver cleanse. I read that you should start first by cleansing your colon and then move on to the the liver. The healthfood store sells both the colon and liver cleansers but I'm not sure if I should do it now or wait until after I'm done breastfeeding. I really need to look into the effects it could have on the baby first.

Did you know that a sluggish liver can lead to serious fatigue, weight gain, water retention, and a host of other health woes? I had no idea!

My husband is seriously trying to sabotage my new regimine. He sees me making all kinds of changes in my quest to go green and thinks I've lost my mind. Whenever I mention the word chemicals he rolls his eyes. He thinks that I read too much.

He doesn't understand that while I do read, I read substantiated, viable information. I try to tell him he should change his toothpaste, that there's all kinds of crap in toothpaste, but he just laughs at me.

Also since we had friends over last weekend who commented on how much weight I've lost, I guess something in him doesn't want the weight to come off of me because tonight he comes home with two buckets of ice cream and a bag of chocolates.

**********

I won't eat ice cream anymore. Not since I read about how the cows in the dairy industry are treated - not to mention the toll raising cattle takes on the environment.

Cows contribute to global warming. I know it's hard to believe but there you have it. Cows are responsible for almost 20 percent of global warming gases. According to Sophie Uliano, author of "Gorgeously Green", "If you factor in the transportation, carbon dioxide farm emissions, methane from deforestation, and nitrous oxide in the cow poop, it makes sense."

Also, did you know that most of the world's meat comes from a devastated rain forest in Central America. Yup, it's true. Seems the cattle industry has hacked down rain forests to create cattle pastures.

YIKES.

That's why I'm going back to being a vegetarian. I'm not sure what my husband thinks of that. But before I met him I'd been a vegetarian for nearly nine years.

I really have to start back into my yoga routine. I know I will feel so much better after. I guess I'm procrastinating in part because the baby's sleep schedule is so unpredictable. I'd hate to start something I couldn't finish, you know?

Although today I was so happy I made it through the entire length of the movie, "I Am Legend", (fantastic movie by the way),after the baby went down for his afternoon nap.

He's on a schedule now which is really fabulous. His first nap usually starts a couple of hours after he wakes up, sometime around 8AM. After that it's usually noon. Followed by a three or four o'clock later afternoon nap. He's down for the night by 8PM. But I won't lie, he's still waking about three or four times a night.

I got a knock on our door today from one of the upstairs neighbors warning me of the bedbug problem in our building. Since I received this news I've been itching all day. I know it's in my head. We don't have bedbugs, thank god. Now I'm super paranoid, afraid the damn bugs are waiting outside my door for the chance to jump inside the moment I open it.

Naturally I'm most concerned about the baby getting bit by one of these disgusting creepy crawlers.

Is there no end to the problems in this building? It's bad enough I have to listen to the crazy b*tch on my floor every day threatening to burn the building down because she can't open her friggen door. She's insane and everybody knows it. I refuse to help her. It's all an act.

Apparently the landlord refused to fix her door because she hasn't paid rent in a very long time. The problem is he can't throw her out because of some city law that is protecting her. She's been living here since before he owned the building, and that has something to do with it.

I neglected to mention that she is disabled. She was run over by a car when she was a teenager. She used to get around fine, but suddenly she's in a wheelchair.

I guess I should be more compassionate. In fact I know I should. What's wrong with me?

Living in New York does that to you. It hardens you.

Here's a bit of news. Last night my hubby asked me for a blow job. This is a big deal considering he was always uncomfortable with the idea of the woman he loved doing this. Now it seems that for the sake of our love life he's willing to make changes. Maybe he finally realized he was missing out on something wonderful.

I'm not one to brag, but I am pretty good in this department. :)

So I was wondering....do mommy bloggers write about blow jobs? Oh dear....I'm not sure what the etiquette is on these matters. I honestly don't think I ever read about any moms having sex. I think it has a lot to do with the fact that no one is anonymous anymore. Their lives are out there for everyone to see, including photos of themselves and their children.

I guess that's one of the benefits of being anonymous, as I am. I don't have to worry about the people I know discovering my blog, and therefore can write a lot more freely.

Here's to anonymity!
