I am a 39 year old, stay at home mother of a beautiful baby boy. I got married late in life when I was 35, and had my son at 38. Although I never planned on marriage or children, I have to say that both my husband and son are the best thing that could have happened to me (regardless of how much I bitch and moan). My passion is for travel and cooking. I also love to write and have been blogging on d-land since 2003. (Click HERE to read more.)

The Real Scoop

<< feeling useless >>
2008-07-23, 8:05 a.m.

I'm happy to report mommy, daddy and baby all got some much needed sleep last night. It was a little touch and go, but a lot better than the previous two evenings. It seems my cold/flu is starting to break. Baby seems to be getting through the worst part himself...until the next tooth makes its debut.

I had a breakdown this morning because my son was leaning in to me like he wanted to breastfeed. Being that I no longer have milk this wasn't possible and the realization that there's no going back really hit me hard. I miss those days when baby was attached at my nipple and my breasts were overflowing with milk. It gave me a great deal of satisfaction knowing that I was sustaining my son in every way. He was a chubby baby then. Now the doctor tells us he's underweight. I don't know what to do. My husband and I are feeding him every chance we can. Lately he's been refusing the bottle because of his teething problems, which makes me worry that the next time we go to the doctor I'll get reprimanded for the fact that he didn't gain, but lost weight. I pray this isn't going to be the case.

YESTERDAY - TODAY

Love Rose

My nephew was also under weight and by the time he was three not only had he caught up, he passed most of the kids his age. So don't worry about his weight. Hope things get better with his teething. My sil gave my nephew a raw unpeeled potato and that seemed to work. Good Luck. Kayla
