It really is worrisome that there is such an increase in the diagnosis of autism. I question whether it's an increased awareness or an increased in the actual illness. We have a neighbor who refuses shots because her oldest son is autistic.

It has been proven that it is most definitely an increase in the disease which has in turn sparked so much awareness. I don't blame your neighbors in the least! Thanks so much for taking the time to comment! Love rose

Hi Rose, Have just caught up on your diary. Sorry you were feeling lonely... I can understand that! You are doing the hardest job in the world. As for vaccines yes I feel they are frightening. I had a friend that didn't vaccinate her kids until the oldest was over two and the littlest 1 1/2. I think you can wait if you want and create your own schedule (she was home with her kids and they didn't come into much contact with the public- so what was the rush?). It makes sense that the older your son is, the stronger his immune system will be. He is not going to daycare or out in public it seems- most of the time you are home, so it might be something to consider. Also you can always insist that it is against your religion or spiritual beliefs to immunize your children. That is actually a right the government has to recognize since this country was founded on the idea of religious freedom! There are books about all these subjects. You have to decide what is best and what you feel comfortable with. Sending love and support, Duck
