YESTERDAY - TODAY

baby and daddy go sleepies
2008-05-15, 8:22 p.m.

Baby and daddy are both down for the count - 8:30PM. I'm sitting at the kitchen table typing away at my laptop and drinking a cup of Vanilla Almond Teecino (my delicious new addiction).

Alas I have a quiet moment to myself.

Ahhhhh....

The baby was easy tonight. I breastfed him to sleep in our bed, then carefully moved him to his crib.

My husband, well, two words will describe what put him to sleep....blow job. It was my idea. I was in the mood and there was no stopping me. I jumped on him, kissed him hard, and rocked his world, taking him completely by surprise. And then off he went to sleep.

**************

organic sheets I just purchased these terrific new ORGANIC COTTON CRIB SHEETS from Baby Center where everything is reasonably priced and they're always having sales. What I really love about the sheets is that they literally zip on to your mattress. The sheet comes in two parts. The bottom sheet that you never but rarely have to remove. This covers the majority of your mattress. And the top sheet, the part the baby sleeps on. So if your baby has an accident you just zip the top right off and zip a new one on. No need to pull the damn mattress out of the crib.

I read somewhere recently that if you can't afford to cloth your baby in all organic cotton clothing, at the very least put them to bed wearing organic cotton, and let them sleep on organic cotton. So I purchased five SOY BABY ONESIES and five pairs of matching pants. They are incredibly soft and really adorable on.

Bought a juicer and have been juicing like a mad woman. Promised my husband the juicer is going to be my last expenditure for a while. It's getting a bit out of hand. I'm becoming one of those cliche housewives who stays home and spends her husband's money like its going out of style. Not good. Especially now that my husband received news from his boss that things are slowing down. Which means he may be out of work for a couple of weeks.

I told my husband not to worry. I can always temp. I've never had a problem getting temp or permanent work. I know I shouldn't overly confident in this economy, but optimism never hurt anybody.

I've been working really hard at being more optimistic lately. I'm trying to stay focussed, in the moment, and not worry myself with past or future. This is a recurring theme in the book, "A New Earth" by Eckert Tolle. After finishing the book I did the online workshop with Oprah and I have to say it was an amazing experience.

Problem is putting it to practice. Trying not to let your mind run away with your soul, so to speak. Trying to answer the question, "Who am I", without going into what it is you do, what role you play, what you own, where you live, who you're married to, or who you used to be.

Without all that, I'll be damned if I can come up with an answer.

Who AM I? I've asked the question before in one of my blogs and I'm still asking the question.

Rose's BabyBaby is officially seven months old now and cuter than ever. He cracks me up constantly. I decided to post this photo because the sunglasses allow him to remain somewhat unidentifiable to those who know him and know us. (For those of you who don't know, I have been anonymous for years here on d-land because I like having the freedom to be able to write honestly and openly about my life without worrying someone I know will discover it. And no, the baby on my site is not my son, although they do somewhat resemble one another.)

Sometimes the two of us will play and his laughter is so damn contagious, before I know it I'm laughing too, which makes him laugh even harder, which makes me laugh harder, and so on. There is nothing better to me than the sound of his laughter and the sight of him sleeping. My little angel.

He can pretty much sit up on his own now without assistance. He's almost there. I give him another week or so.

*************

I'm loving the whole homemade baby food thing. Today he had avocado, sweet potato, apples, oatmeal, and banana. Tomorrow i'm going to make pears, peas, winter squash, appleas and more sweet potatoes. I purchased eight 4 ounce glass jars that are usually used for storing homemade yogurt, and I use them for the babyfood.

fresh babyAlso purchased these FRESH BABY FOOD TRAYS so that I can freeze some of the food. This allows me to cook larger portions and not have to worry that they'll go bad before baby gets the chance to eat them. Saves me from having to prepare food every night of the week. I chose these because they are BPA free. So far I've been very pleased with them. They are easy to clean and the food pops right out. Not a pain in the ass like some ice cube trays often are.
